Everyone needs Magnesium

Considering the important role magnesium plays in our bodies it’s hard to believe nearly 80% of the population is not getting enough magnesium in our daily diet.

For many people a magnesium deficiency causes noticeable negative symptoms including muscle aches or spasms, poor digestion, anxiety and trouble sleeping.  Magnesium supplementation may be the most underutilized, but most necessary supplement there is.
Magnesium is crucial to overall good health. It’s involved in over 300 biochemical functions in the body such as regulating heart beat rhythms and helping neurotransmitter functions.

List of Foods High in Magnesium

Lemon Kale Salad with Almonds and Parmesan

2 bunches kale (lacinato, or curly) coarsely chopped and ribs removed
zest and juice of one lemon
1/3 c. olive oil

coarse salt and pepper
1/2 c. shaved or grated parmesan cheese
1/3 c. coarsely chopped toasted almonds

Whisk together lemon juice, zest, olive oil, salt and pepper. Add kale and toss to combine. Let sit for a few minutes and work in the dressing with your hands.  This breaks down the kale and makes it more tender.  Add parmesan and almonds.
